As a fully accredited Registered Automotive Workshop (RAW), we pride ourselves on ensuring that every vehicle we inspect and certify meets the highest safety and compliance standards. Our approach isn’t about volume; it’s about unparalleled expertise, integrity, and trust that comes from working directly with our customers. We’re passionate about road safety and dedicated to helping individuals who want to bring something unique into the Australian automotive landscape. Whether for personal use or as a contribution to the national fleet, we’re here to ensure your vehicle isn’t just compliant—it’s superior.

Our accreditation reflects our over a century of combined hands-on experience and commitment to automotive excellence, underpinned by our proven track record of success in the industry. When you choose us, you’re choosing a partner who values quality over shortcuts.

who our service is for

Our services are tailored to discerning customers who independently understand the intricacies of importing vehicles. We work with those who prioritise full compliance with regulations, expert evaluation, and a rigorous certification process. For customers seeking peace of mind, we ensure that every vehicle we handle meets Australian standards without cutting corners.

Our service is also designed for individuals who genuinely wish to contribute to the uniqueness of the Australian automotive fleet by importing something extraordinary. Whether for personal purposes or to enhance the national market with unique vehicles, we are here to support those who value quality and compliance at every step of the process.

OUR PROCESS

All vehicles undergo a thorough physical inspection and evaluation at our Brisbane or Wollongong facilities, both strategically located near major shipping ports. From the moment your vehicle arrives, we take care of the entire inspection process to ensure it fully complies with Australian standards.

We also offer a complete, turnkey service, coordinating with shipping agents, handling quarantine processing, and managing delivery logistics for interstate customers. We aim to make the process as seamless as possible, with everything handled from start to finish.

WHAT WE WON’T DO

At RAW Certification, we have a clear set of standards that define what we won’t do, and we make no exceptions. We do not accept damaged or rusted vehicles for certification, as such vehicles inherently pose risks to safety, compliance, and the reputation of both our business and the customer. Any vehicle that passes through our workshop must meet our strict standards, and that begins with a hands-on, thorough physical inspection by our expert team.

We will never issue certification based on photographs, partial reports, or remote assessments—every vehicle is personally evaluated to ensure full compliance with Australian Road Vehicle Standards.

We do not mail certification plates, nor will we ever certify vehicles sight unseen. This is non-negotiable. Our certification process is not about quick turnaround or high-volume processing; it’s about maintaining the highest level of integrity in everything we do.

We are not a service for those looking for shortcuts. We won’t cut corners, compromise on safety, or certify vehicles that could undermine the regulatory standards of the industry. Our process is designed for those who value compliance, transparency, and quality over expediency. If you’re seeking a legitimate, robust certification process, we are here for you and very much look forward to working with you to bring your dream car to reality!

Campervans & Motorhomes

Important Notice on Campervans and Motorhomes

At present, there is an ongoing revision of eligibility for campervans and motorhomes under the Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle Scheme (SEVS). Due to the uncertainty surrounding these revisions, we strongly discourage customers from purchasing vehicles of this nature until the eligibility criteria are finalised. Importing a vehicle that may not meet future compliance standards could lead to significant delays, added costs, or even the need to re-export the vehicle out of Australia.

We encourage anyone considering importing a campervan or motorhome to contact us directly. Our team is here to provide guidance, discuss your options, and help you make informed decisions based on the latest regulatory updates to avoid any costly or difficult outcomes.

Commercial Vehicles

If you’re looking for high-performance American trucks like the Ford F-Series or Chevrolet Silverado, versatile vans such as the Toyota HiAce and Nissan Caravan, or all-terrain workhorses like the Mitsubishi Delica D:5, we’ve got you covered. These models provide unique capabilities that go beyond what’s typically available in the Australian market, offering businesses a chance to enhance their fleet with something truly special.

Other exciting options include the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (special editions), the Isuzu ELF for light commercial duties, and the rugged Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series JDM variants. Whether you need a reliable truck for towing, a spacious van for transporting goods, or a vehicle built for off-road and commercial use, SEVS opens up opportunities for unique and capable vehicles.

While these are just a few examples, many other commercial vehicles are available through SEVS, each offering something different to enrich your business operations. We are also industry leaders in electric vehicle (EV) certification, ensuring that businesses looking to future-proof their fleets with electric commercial vehicles are fully compliant with Australian standards.

If you’re looking to import a high-performance or unique commercial vehicle, RAW Certification has the expertise to seemlessly manage the importing and compliance process from start to finish.

when raws goes wrong

We believe that understanding the obligations and rules around importing vehicles is crucial for anyone considering the process. By providing clear, factual information about potential pitfalls, we aim to help you avoid costly mistakes and ensure your vehicle meets all Australian compliance standards.

Importing a vehicle independently comes with significant legal and safety responsibilities, and it’s essential for you, as our potential client, to be fully informed about the rules.

At RAW Certification, we take our responsibility under the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018  (RVSA), Road Vehicle Standards Rules 2019 and other relevant legislation seriously, recognising the vital role we play in ensuring the safety of Australian roads. As a registered automotive workshop (RAW), we are not only legally but ethically bound to uphold the highest standards of compliance and integrity.

We will not cut corners or compromise the certification process, as doing so would violate our legal obligations, endanger public safety, and expose vehicle owners to significant legal risks. Cutting corners can leave the owner vulnerable to penalties, fines, or even the destruction or re-export of the vehicle.

Our commitment is not only to the Australian public and road users but also to our clients, ensuring their vehicles meet all necessary standards, protecting both their investment and their compliance with Australian law.

Vehicle Rejection at the Border

Failing to comply with import regulations can lead to your vehicle being rejected by customs. This could result in costly outcomes, such as re-exporting, destroying, or writing off the vehicle entirely.

Inability to Register the Vehicle

Non-compliant vehicles that don’t meet Australian Design Rules (ADR) and safety standards will be ineligible for registration, making them illegal to drive on public roads and effectively unusable in Australia.

Federal Penalities and Fines

Importing a vehicle without following proper procedures can lead to federal penalties, including significant fines. These penalties can add up quickly, and in serious cases, legal action may be taken against the importer which in most cases is you!

Significant Financial Losses

Cutting corners on the import process can result in costly consequences such as fines, re-inspection costs, and expensive modifications. In the worst cases, you may be required to re-export or destroy the vehicle, leading to major financial losses.

Insurance Refusal

Non-compliant vehicles may be uninsurable, leaving you without coverage in the event of an accident, damage, or theft—further increasing the financial risk.

Safety Risk to Drivers and Passengers

Vehicles that skip proper inspections may have hidden safety issues, endangering the driver, passengers, and others on the road. This could result in life-threatening consequences and legal liabilities.

What Should I Do If I have Concerns About My Vehicle?

If you’re unsure about your vehicle’s eligibility for certification, we recommend reaching out to the Australian Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRCA)  – Road Vehicle Standards Section to discuss your vehicle and assess whether it meets the criteria. In the case of damaged or ineligible vehicles, options such as re-export or destruction may need to be considered. We’re here to guide you through that process and help you understand the steps involved.

What Should I Do If I’ve Had a Negative Experience With Another Provider?

If you’ve had issues with another provider or concerns about their processes, we encourage you to consult the Australian Federal Department of Infrastrcuture, Transport, Regional Development, Communcations and the Arts (DITRCA) process for filing a complaint against a previous RAW. At RAW Certification, we operate with full transparency, and our focus is on ensuring a process built on trust, quality, and compliance. We’re committed to providing you with a service experience that reflects these values.
